The City of Dallas’ board of adjustments meets almost every month to hear cases that require special consideration regarding code compliance. For example, we recently remodeled a space located in a building that predated a current ordinance. The building did not meet code and the only way it would is if it is demolished.

The board of adjustments heard our case. We explained that although the building did not meet all landscaping requirements it maintained the spirit of the ordinance. Here is an excerpt of the meeting.

A board of adjustments case is one of several routes when a site does not fit the code as written. Depending on the situation, the path may instead be a Specific Use Permit, or it may surface as one of the zoning surprises Texas developers run into before construction starts.
